What's Closed on Columbus Day in Parsippany
For students, it's a 1-session day. Town hall and libraries are closed.
Columbus Day is Monday and many local and federal government offices and services will be closed (those not already affected by the government shutdown) because it's a federal holiday.
Columbus Day has been observed on the second Monday of October since 1971, according to history.com.
For the Parsippany Troy Hills Township School District, it’s Curriculum Day/One Session Day for Students. It’s also a Half Day Food Sales for the middle schools and all elementaries.

Here’s a look at what’s closed:
- U.S. Post Office: There will be no mail service on Columbus Day.
- Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Hall will be closed.
- Parsippany Community Center will be closed.
- There is no garbage or recycling pick up on Monday and the Recycling Yard is closed.
- All Parsippany Library branches will be closed on Monday
- Morris County government offices and the Morris County Library will be closed on Monday
