Get Tickets for Parsippany Theater's 'Master Class'

The Master Class runs from Sept. 20 – Oct. 6 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.

Opening the 21st Season for the Women’s Theater Company is the Tony Award winning play Master Class, written by Terrence McNally and directed by Barbara Krajkowski.

Equity actress Katrina Ferguson stars as the glamorous Maria Callas, who teaches a Master Class and shares her experience in opera and stage with the attendees (the audience). During each session, three different students Sohpie (played by Jill Cappuccino), Tony (played by Chris Sierra) and Sharon (played by Elise Brancheau) perform for the diva and receive constructive or callous criticism. As each student performs, Maria Callas comically and poignantly reminices about her life on and off the stage.

"Working on this play reminds us, once again, "That there are no short cuts in art. No easy ways. There is no being center stage as if by magic...it is a lifetime's work," said Ferguson. "McNally uses the character of Maria to teach us, not only in this Master Class, but in life as well, that attention to detail does matter, and about how to approach our work, not only as artists, but as human beings."
