Northvail Students Earn 1,200-Plus Study Island 'Blue Ribbons'

While many kids take summer to relax and take a break from school, for some Northvail Elementary students, they spent this summer honing their math and ELA skills.

Northvail Elementary Principal Jeff Martens gave his students a summer challenge to work on Study Island skill lessons. Their goal was to collectively earn 1000 Study Island blue ribbons. If a student earns a blue ribbon it means that they have obtained a score considered "proficient" in a particular skill topic, according to the district.

Study Island is a web-based interactive program designed as an 
instruction, practice, and assessment system. The students beat the goal and earned more than 1,200 blue ribbons.

The district said “Kudos to these students and all Northvail students for striving to keep their skills sharp over the summer months. A special thanks to Northvail parents for encouraging their children to engage in educational activities during the summer months and for their continued efforts during the new school year.
