Weinberger Law Group Partners With Eva's Village on New Charitable 'Give The Gift' Project

For those looking to make a charitable contribution this holiday season, there is an innovative new way to donate to Eva's Village, the comprehensive anti-poverty non-profit organization located in Paterson, New Jersey. Called "Give the Gift," the online giving program features a special webpage where donors can browse and purchase an array of specific goods and services that go directly towards helping individuals and families receiving assistance from Eva's Village.

Modeled after Oxfam Unwrapped, the Give the Gift project is sponsored by Weinberger Law Group, one of New Jersey's largest divorce and family law firms, with locations currently in Parsippany and Freehold, and expanding soon to Hackensack and Basking Ridge. According to Bari Weinberger, founder and managing partner of Weinberger Law Group, the idea to create an online charity gift program was devised by her law firm as a way to increase the impact of its annual holiday tradition of local charitable giving.

"We always do something special around the holidays, but really wanted to go above and beyond this year by forming a partnership with one of our wonderful local charities. We applaud the support and assistance provided to so many by Eva’s Village and decided that we would focus our efforts in making sure their mission continues."

With assistance from the technology team that keeps the Weinberger Law Group website up and running, the law firm created a gift giving page for Eva's Village that enables donors to click and buy one or more goods and services that directly benefit those served by the charity. Weinberger Law Group has also placed the gift giving page on its website and has made the iFrames code available (see the bottom of the donations page at: http://www.weinbergerlawgroup.com/evasvillage.aspx) for anyone who wishes to embed the gift giving webpage items on their own site.

Some of the gifts that can be purchased? Providing a nutritious meal for 10 at the homeless shelter (donation cost: $66), buying textbooks for one person receiving work training through The Culinary School at Eva’s Village (donation cost: $150), and covering one night of care for a mother and child at the Hope Residence (donation cost: $120).

During the holiday season and toward the end of the calendar year, donations to charitable organizations increase dramatically compared to the rest of the year. Research has shown that as much as 50 percent of charitable donations are made between Thanksgiving and Christmas. "It is a time of year when people feel particularly generous and caring and making charitable donations is ever-present in many people’s minds; the holidays simply bring out the best in us" says Donna Fico, director of marketing & education at Eva's Village.

While Weinberger hopes the online giving program will give Eva's Village a year-end boost, especially since donations have been down so far in 2013, she also hopes her firm's sponsored program can become the gift that keeps on giving.

"We built this as a way to support Eva's Village year round, during the holidays and beyond, with the ability to easily change to different gifts as the seasons or needs of Eva's Village change, so we're encouraging businesses and individuals, whenever there's a special occasion or you achieve an important goal, to celebrate with a gift to Eva’s Village. It’s such an easy way to pay-it-forward and because Eva’s Village has a 4-star charity rating, which is the highest, you can feel assured that your charity dollars are being used right, she notes.

"Really, this is a win-win."
