Morris County Man Convicted of Murdering Wife…

5 Businesses Coming to Morristown

Who will be pining for your patronage in the coming months?

Business is a big deal in Morristown. Granted, many businesses come, and many go, but when you're a town that is as walkable and as commerce-oriented as we are, it is noteworthy to welcome new establishments that you'll likely pass by at least once today (as opposed to a new business opening on some highway).

So, here are five (really, six, we cheated) businesses coming to our three-square-miles of heaven over the next few months that will soon be pining for your patronage.

  1. You Need to Know About Cafe on the Green: Located in the space formerly occupied by Godiva Chocolatiers, this coffee, gelatto and sandwich shop announced its pending presence months ago, and then was relatively quiet. But, they have picked up the volume recently, and announced they expect to have a soft opening during Morristown's St. Patrick's Day Parade, according to their Facebook page.
  2. You Need to Know About Ananda Yoga: These yogis have had a studio in Mendham for a while now, but are planning on moving it over to the space formerly occupied by Gray Lily on Speedwell Avenue. They also have a production company that has won Emmy Awards. Whhhaaaaaat? You'll learn more about this business (businesses) in a profile here on Morristown Patch later this week.
  3. You Need to Know About Iron Bar and Cups: They are neighbors-to-be so we thought we'd put them together. The first one has seemingly been "in-the-works" for a while now. But, it's not like nothing is happening in this South Street storefront–it has just taken a little longer than expected. However, the other one, another self-serve frozen yogurt joint, has finally received an opening date of mid-March.
  4. You Need to Know About Portuguese BBQ: Although, not much is known about this place, besides offering Morristown a type of dining experience that, to this point, is not particularly available here. However, it is expected to open in a previously-empty space on Spring Street, so we cannot help but be excited about the increased traffic there, whenever it does finally arrive.
  5. You Need to Know About Allstate: When Howard Lewis finally threw in the towel and closed Moore Hardware, a 90-year Morristown institution, after 12 years of ownership, many may have wondered what could possibily replace a store that had been as part of the Morris Street landscape as the Morristown Train Station. Finally, recently, we found out: an insurance company.

There use to be a craft brew shop - where they sold the ingredients and machinery. It was on Dehart behind the Wells Fargo building (granted this is different than what you are asking for). It was a blue victorian house that was destroyed to make room for the monstrosity that is the Dehart Partking lot. Now that I am of legal age, I would have loved to go in there and learned to make different styles of beer, but as usual this town has nack for seeing the intriguing stores disappear. I notice a lot of people want different types of retail and shops to come to this town - they should have lived here prior to Epsteins going out of business as all of these types of busines once flourished here.

@Nicole: I just checked out their site. Cups does indeed seem to be some sort of "retro" fro-yo shop. However, just by the nature of things, frozen yogurt is geared toward children. They're doing themselves a disservice by eliminating a portion of their client base...

Only been in town a few years but where does one go for brunch besides the diner? I am sure people are out and about in the AM. I'll give Cups a try at least once...
