Chamber Offers Seminar for Job Seekers

In preparation for its May 1 job fair, business organization presents a workforce development seminar next week.

The Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce continues its mission to help local people looking for work.

The nonprofit, self-funded volunteer group hosts what it calls Job Fair Preparation and Forum: A Workshop for Job Seekers on Tuesday, April 9 at Centenary College. The event is designed to prepare people for the upcoming PACC Job Fair, scheduled for May 1 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Holiday Inn of Parsippany.

The free seminar will address several key areas related to job fairs, according to President Robert J. Peluso, including:

  • Should I go to a job fair?
  • How can I prepare myself for a career or job fair?
  • What should I do while at the job fair?

“Employees are one of our most valuable assets in every organization," said Peluso, who also chairs the PACC'S job fair committee. "We recognize this fundamental concept and promote Parsippany’s talented workforce through the chamber's Employment Outreach Program. Educated and skilled employees drive the economic success of our community, in addition to retaining, expanding, and attracting businesses to create opportunities in the Parsippany area."

The interactive event will feature open networking and a 30-minute open forum along with open networking. Employment Outreach Committee Chair and career transition  oach, Neil Cooper, and Mary Adelman, assistant director of the New Jersey Small Business Development Corporation of Northwest Jersey and PACC assistant chair will facilitate the seminar.

The seminar will take place April 9 from 10-11:30 a.m. p.m at Centenary College's Parsippany campus, 300 Littleton Roady. While admission is free, advance registration is required and space is limited to 50 attendees.
