Chamber to Help Job Seekers Create a Personal Brand

Employment outreach program takes place at Centenary College next Tuesday.

When the economy is struggling and the job market is tight, it's important for people looking for work to make themselves stand out, according to the Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce. That's why the business membership group is offering a new employment outreach program event for the community.

The organization presents "Create Your Personal Brand with Bragbook Multimedia," program for people in career transition and business owners. The interactive workshop is designed to help job seekers and entrepreneurs find new ways to market themselves and showcase their accomplishments and skills through technology.

Specifically, the program will introduce attendees to Bragbook, a New Jersey company that launched the website Bragbook Multimedia in 2011. The idea behind the website is to drive communication between prospective employees and employers.

The site does this by allowing users—for free—to create a digital portfolio they can submit privately to hiring managers and clients.

PACC President Robert J. Peluso said the program is a perfect example of the chamber's work to build and support Parsippany's workforce.

“Employees are one of our most valuable assets in every organization," Peluso said. "We recognize this fundamental concept and promote the Parsippany area’s talented workforce though the chamber's Employment Outreach Program.

"Educated and skilled employees drive the economic success of our community in addition to retaining, expanding, and attracting businesses to create opportunities in the Parsippany area."

Tuesday's seminar, according to Peluso, is one of the ways in which the PACC helps educate area workers.

And it's hands-on learning: The event will show attendees how to use Bragbook for recruiting and how it can help those looking for work. Participants will get to watch videos and and see how the program has helped other candidates.  They will also have the opportunity to fill out a personal online profile.

"Create Your Personal Brand with Bragbook Multimedia" takes place Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.  at Centenary College on 300 Littleton Roa.  Advance registration is required at www.ParsippanyChamber.org and space is limited to 50 registrations.
