Daily Record: Area Businessman Bilked Customers out of $2.2M in Vacation Scheme

Daryl Turner reportedly had an office in Parsippany.

The New Jersey Attorney General's Office says a Cherry Hill man deceived consumers into purchasing vacation packages and memberships to the tune of more than $2 million. The customers didn't get what they paid for, but Daryl T. Turner and his wife reportedly indulged in luxury cars and opened a new travel club in violation of a 2009 pact he made with the state consumer affairs division.

Between 2007 and 2009, the division sued Turner for violating the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act. The infractions had to do with fake travel deals made through offices he had in several New Jersey towns, including the now-closed Dreamwork Vacation Club that was at 4 Century Dr. in Parsippany. Turner allegedly sold vacation packages to people but did not produce the free gifts and airfare discounts promised. Even after agreeing to stop selling and transferring assets including cars and bank accounts, the Attorney General's Office said Turner continued these activities into at least 2010.

A hearing is set for June 10. The businessman has made no comment other than that he will file an answer to the state prior to the court date.
