Food Delivery Business to Launch in Parsippany

Parsippany residents will soon be able to get food from their favorite restaurants delivered straight to their home, office, dorm or hotel room. The company Dining Around said it will be the area's first restaurant marketing and delivery service firm.

By contracting with local restaurants, the company will publish menu guides to be distributed to all residents, businesses, hotels and college dorms for food delivery from a variety of restaurants.

"People these days are busier than ever," said Dining Around President and CFO Daisy Garcia. "We felt there was a niche for a new kind of convenience for people who are too busy to leave their desk to grab lunch or are too tired once home to make dinner for their families.

"This service is for everyone who wants more variety in their meals than they can get with current delivery options."

Dining Around's magazine-style menu guides will be published and distributed three times a year, according to the company, with the first scheduled to hit the streets around June 1.

Delivery service will be available for lunch Monday through Friday and for dinner seven days a week. Customers can order online at the company's website, which is still under construction, or by phone. The service charge, according to the owner, will be $4.99.

The company said it is now meeting with area restaurateurs to secure their participation.

The guides will include at least one, but no more than two, restaurants per cuisine, Garcia noted.

"I don't think it's fair to customers or member restaurants to have more than that," she said. "I want diversity in the cuisine types that are included in the guides for customers. I also want my member restaurants to make sales, not pit them against each other."

Dining Around will kick off its efforts in Parsippany, but Garcia said she eventually wants to spread out throughout Morris County and beyond.
