Chamber of Commerce Job Fair Comes Wednesday

Need a job? PACC has a program designed to promote economic development by helping people seeking work.

The presents its fourth annual Job Fair Wednesday at the Meadow Wood Manor in Randolph.

The reason for the event is to promote economic development in Parsippany,  said PACC President Robert Peluso.

"The strength of a company relies upon a highly qualified workforce, and we have high-caliber individuals right here in the Parsippany area," Peluso said. "This key attribute drives the economic success of our community through retaining, developing, and attracting businesses to our community."

The event each year experiences increasing success in providing opportunities for local job seekers, according to the Chamber. In 2011, the organization reports, more than 500 potential job seekers and over 40 hiring organizations attended. This year the Chamber says it is on pace to surpass last year's attendance.

That should be good news for Parsippanians in need of employment.

“This is still a difficult economy," said PACC Executive Director Craig Schlosser. "Our self-funded organization and volunteer committee works exceptionally hard to provide this free event. We pride ourselves on a great annual job fair that provides a warm, friendly, positive, and caring environment."

Schlosser said available services at the job fair include a free career development seminar covering four employment interview strategies to assist people looking for work, as well as the opportunity to connect with companies from a wide variety of industries.

This year’s scheduled attendees include ADP, Atlantic Health Care, Coca Cola Refreshments, Cablevision, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Quick Chek, Prudential, Rite Aid and T-Mobile. A complete list of participating companies is available at PACC's employmentoutreach.org website.

The job fair is a part of the Chamber's Employment Outreach Program, which it calls a unique approach to drive community and economic growth in the greater Parsippany area. Peluso said the program helps cultivate a qualified workforce by providing services including a job posting board, quarterly newsletters, the program website, internship opportunities, scholarship programs, training events, career counseling and workforce development opportunities.

“We have come a long way since the program’s inception," said New Jersey Small Business Development Center Assistant Director Mary Adelman, who chairs the PACC'S Community and Economic Development committee and serves at the fair's co-chairperson. "Each year we help more companies, more job seekers and make a bigger difference in our community and in the economy.

"I am proud to be a member of an organization which helps over 2,500 jobseekers and over 75 area employers each year.”

The Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce Job Fair takes place Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Meadow Wood Manor, 461 Route 10 East in Randolph. (Driving directions are here.)
