Job Seekers, Businesses Could Benefit from Chamber Fair

5th annual employment outreach event takes place May 1.

The Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its fifth annual Job Fair.

“Our Job Fair has a reputation for the last four years in providing outstanding service to our residents, businesses and volunteers in the Parsippany area at no charge," said PACC President Robert Peluso. "This is another example on how we strive to give back to our community.”

The Parsippany Holiday Inn will be the site of the 2013 event, which takes place Wednesday, May 1, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Peluso said he's proud to invite everyone to attend.

The chamber president noted that the fair has an important purpose—matching businesses that need workers with qualified people looking for employment. But he said the May 1 event offers much more than that.

"The fair is part of the chamber’s Employment Outreach program. which
is our unique approach to drive community and economic growth in the greater Parsippany area through providing employers with a high quality workforce," Peluso said.

"However, the success of the Job Fair and the employment outreach
Program, which annually assists over 2,500 job seekers and 75 area employers, demonstrates the success our strategic partnership initiative."

In 2009, the chamber began focusing on creating strategic partnerships
with other community-based organizations. Four years later, more than eight groups are involved and helping with initiatives such as the job fair that work to improve and support area workers.

“A high quality workforce creates an advantage in attracting and retaining top companies to the Parsippany area," said Peluso.

"We provide comprehensive services, including a job posting board, the quarterly Workforce Morris newsletter, an active website, internship opportunities, scholarship programs, training events, career counseling and more. All of these services are provided free of charge by the self-funded and volunteer based organization, however we could not make this program a success without our dedicated partner organizations."

Last year, more than 500 potential job seekers and 25 hiring organizations attended the fair. This year’s scheduled attendees include ADP, Atlantic Health Care, Care One, Coca Cola Refreshments, Liberty Mutual, Prudential, Provident Bank, Rite Aid and Tiffany & Company.
