Kazumi Sushi Keeps Customers Coming Back

Friendly, high-quality service and great food are restaurant's trademark.

has been in Lake Hiawatha for just five months. Already, the restaurant has become a popular destination for sushi, sashimi and other authentic Japanese food.

“Every month, [business] goes up,” said Sam Chen, general manager and lead chef at Kazumi Sushi. “We have a good menu and a lot of customers. We have the best reviews on Yelp in this area. Everybody gives us five stars. We have good service, we have good food and the fish every day is very fresh. We keep the fish fresh so people will be coming back.”

Advertising and word of mouth have helped the young restaurant thrive early on. Located in a converted Chinese restaurant, word has spread about the food and customer service provided to anybody who decides to stop in to eat at Kazumi Sushi.

“We do advertising and we send menus out,” Chen said. “A lot of customers come here and tell their friends. They tell them we have the best sushi in this area.”

“We serve great food, we have great service,” Chen continued. “We’re trying to make every customer that comes here happy and have them enjoy the food.”

Experience is another factor that drives the quality of customer experience at Kazumi. Chen’s two brothers, who also work as sushi chefs at the restaurant, have 25 years of experience between them while Chen, a former hibachi chef, specializes in preparing grilled food.

All of these factors combine to make Kazumi Sushi a patron experience that, Chen hopes, will keep customers coming back for seconds.

“We want more people to come,” Chen said. “Right now, it’s very hard for a business. We need to make sure we stay here forever, so we need the people to keep coming.”
