MDOL Staffers Hold 1st-Ever Company Blood Drive

Roughly 33 pints of lifegiving blood were donated, said the company.

The Blood Center of New Jersey Bloodmobile was back in Parsippany Tuesday to accept donations from community members. The converted bus made a stop at medical website MD Online's Par-Troy headquarters for the company's first-ever employee blood drive.

MDOL officials say nearly 3 dozen of its staffers participated in the event, resulting in the donation of roughly 33 pints of blood.

“MDOL is fully committed to improving health care, as reflected through the incredible employee turnout to this event,” said sales executive and event co-coordinator Lisa Baumgarten. “As a health care technology company, it's crucial that we remain experts on current issues in the healthcare community and do our best to try to combat them—whether it's through providing doctors with the latest in disease state information or by MDOL employees helping promote awareness through charitable donations.

"We're happy to be doing our part in addressing our country's blood shortages, and we look forward to hosting similar events in the future,” Baumgarten said.

This is the BCNJ Bloodmobile's second recent stop in the township. On March 28, Anytime Fitness in Mt. Tabor held its Spring Blood Drive, which attracted a large number of residents.

According to the American Red Cross, the nation needs more than 44,000 blood donations every day, which leaves blood banks desperate for donors.
