Olympian Marks Opening of Parsippany Smashburger

The 11th New Jersey location held a ribbon cutting Thursday.

After a successful invitation-only pre-opening event held Monday, the new Route 46 Smashburger is open to the public.

U.S. Track Olympian Julie Culley was among those to flip the first burgers on Thursday.

The restaurant, which specializes in burgers, chicken sandwiches and milkshakes, marked the occasion with a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony.

The Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce helped with the event. Mascott Corporation, which owns all 11 New Jersey locations of the chain, is a new PACC member, CEO Scott Gillman said.

The Par-Troy branch has hired 40 employees, said PACC board member Ildiko Peluso.

Gillman said the company places a priority on promoting employees from within.
