Denmark Royalty Arrive in Parsippany

Prince and princess promote skin cancer awareness, celebrate a company's expansion to Parsippany

Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince and Princess of Denmark were among the guests at the opening of Leo Pharma Inc.'s headquarters at 1 Sylvan Way in Parsippany. The royals helped with a ribbon cutting and also kicked off "Building Bridges," a panel discussion on the state of skin cancer treatment.

Leo Pharma is the U.S. affiliate of Denmark-based LEO Pharma A/S, which specializes in dermatology and critical care. The company shared event host duties with the Danish Consulate General of Denmark in New York.

Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess is a patron of the Danish Cancer Society. In her remarks during the ribbon cutting ceremony, Princess Mary noted that Denmark has the highest skin cancer rate in Europe.

"A global challenge faces millions of people all over the world," she said. "We must provide incentive and shared resources for the global battle against skin cancer."

As part of the event, Leo Pharma President and CEO John Koconis presented a $50,000 donation to Elizabeth Robins of the Skin Cancer Foundation.

Among those attending the event were LEO Foundation Chairperson Poul Rødbroe Rasmussen and Parsippany Troy-Hills Mayor James Barberio.

"Having royalty here is pretty exciting. And we couldn't be happier to have Leo Pharma in our community," the mayor said. "It just shows that Parsippany is a welcoming place for businesses."
