What Should Replace Michael's?

Patch wants to hear your ideas for filling vacant business buildings.

Tuesday marked the one-year anniversary of the move of , the regionally recognized craft and hobby store, from 3081 Route 46 in the Morris Hills Shopping Center to its new digs at 1099 Route 46 in the Troy Hills (Pathmark) Shopping Center. The move was good news for the shop and the town, as it kept the large, popular crafting store in town.

The news for Morris Hills, however, is not so good. Michael's left the center with thousands of square feet of empty anchor business space.

The shopping center has a number of vacancies, in fact, and the Morris Hills marquee sign has the empty tenant slots to prove it.

Filling the empty anchor space likely would give the mall a real shot in the arm--and it surely would give a boost to existing mall merchants, which include , , , the multiplex, , , .
