All-Stars Return, BOE Bows to Public on Fields Top Local News

Also NJDOT and residents don't see eye to eye and Parsippany gets a new town clerk

The collection of an estimated $11.5 million in athletic improvements for Parsippany's high schools is off the table. Rather than risk the ire of taxpayers and voters, the Board of Education unanimously decided to submit a reduced-option package of items to the state Department of Education for its review. If approved, the board will be able to move forward with plans to draft a referendum and, in January, the board hopes, put the idea before voters. 

Just in time to prepare for the upcoming presidential election, Parsippany finally has a new municipal clerk. Officials hope Yancy Wazirmas will bring stability to the recently struggling clerk's office.

After being on the road for nearly a month, the Par-Troy Little League East All-Stars, fresh from Williamsport, are back in Parsippany. The team arrived at the PTLLE complex on Eileen Court Friday afternoon and were met by enthusiastic, red-shirted residents, town dignitaries and the media. The formal welcome comes Sunday wth a town-sponsored motorcade and party at Veterans Park.

New Jersey Department of Transportation officials and concerned Parsippany residents finally met face to face in a special meeting held at Town Hall. Another meeting between state transportation officials and residents is scheduled for Sept. 13.
