Dover Couple Who Lost Legs in Accident Settle for $500K

The motorcycle David and Linda Kubert were riding was struck by a teen who was allegedly texting while driving.

A Dover couple who each lost a leg in a motorcycle accident in 2009 when a driver struck them while allegedly texting has settled their lawsuit against the driver for $500,000, according to the Daily Record.

The settlement represents the policy limit of the motor vehicle insurance of the driver, Kyle Best, of Wharton. Best was 18 at the time of the accident and , Shannon Colonna, just before losing control of his pickup truck near and striking the Kuberts' motorcycle.

The lawyer representing the Kuberts is still attempting to appeal a judge's ruling that charges should not be filed against Colonna for engaging in the text messaging conduct.
