Kindergarten Registration, Zoning Board Meeting This Week

What to expect in Parsippany in the next seven days

Monday is the start of registration for kindergarten in Parsippany schools for 2013-14. Parents may enroll their 5-year-olds at their home school Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Registration packets may be found on the school district website, or picked up in the Main Office of your neighborhood school. The Parsippany-Troy Hills Board of Education meets for another special Tuesday meeting to discuss the proposed budget for the next school year. Mum on the subject so far, administrators finally may give some perspective into the effects the national sequestration may have on local schools. The gathering takes place Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the district adminitration building at 292 Parsippany Road.

At its Wednesday meeting, the Parsippany Zoning Board of Adjustment is expected to take up a proposed residential development for Zandy’s Acres on Old Dover Road. The session is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

A star of stage and screen graces the township Thursday. Mandy Patinkin, known for his work in Broadway's "Evita" and "Sunday in the Park with George," the film "The Princess Bride," and television shows "Criminal Minds" and "Homeland" will perform at the Parsippany Hilton for the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ’s Live from Greater Metrowest. The night of music, networking and socializing benefitsthe annual UJA capaign. The event begins at 6:45 p.m. with a cocktail hour and light dinner followed by dessert and the program at 7:45 p.m. Tickets are $75 per person plus a gift to the campaign.
