Parsippany has its fair share of prominent lovebirds, but this couple stands out among the rest, especially as we anticipate Valentine’s Day.
In this installment of Parsippany Couple Spotlight, we'll find out what makes Betty and Tom Wyka so sweet.
Tom Wyka, IT Project Manager at Daiichi Sankyo
Betty Wyka, Visitor Services Coordinator at The Stickley Museum
So, how did you lovebirds meet?
We met in our high school marching band.
How long have you been together?
We began dating in 1986 and just celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary.
What’s the secret to a successful and happy relationship?
Communication and making time for us as a couple. We both have busy schedules and two kids with their own activities, so it's easy to get caught up in the "urgent" and not the "important." Making an effort to have "us" time can make all the difference.
What famous couple do you emulate?
We're the Wykas—famous couples emulate us!
Why did you settle in Parsippany, and how long have you lived here?
We moved to Parsippany 20 years ago, it was a convenient location to where we were working at the time. We bought our first house and planned to sell/relocate after 5 years. It's been the longest five years of our lives!
What’s your favorite romantic night out in Parsippany and why?
Dinner out at Annabella's or the Towne Tavern; Tabor Road Tavern if it's a good month!
