Waterview Development Hearing, Mountain Way Townhome Plan on Tap This Week

Here's a look at what's happening in Parsippany over the next week.

Expect a big turnout when testimony resumes on the controversial Waterview development proposal before the Parsippany Planning Board. The meeting takes place at Parsippany High School, 309 Baldwin Road, Monday at 7:30 p.m.

Free tax help will be available to all Parsippany senior citizens and low-income or disabled citizens by experienced and trained  AARP-IRS Tax Aides.  Sessions begin this Tuesday and continue every Tuesday through Apr. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Parsippany Community Center, 1130 Knoll Road, Lake Hiawatha. You must make an appointment in advance: Please call Lynne or Colleen to set a day and time and find the documents you will need at 973-263-7351 or 7352.

The Cheerleading Parent Association at Parsippany Hills High School will hold a Cheerleading Fundraiser in the form of a night of dance and fitness Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Brooklawn Middle School, 250 Beachwood Road. Two classes will be held, from 6-7 p.m. and 7:30-8:30 p.m. Classes are $10 per person and proceeds will help offset the costs associated for Par Hills' Competition Cheer team to compete at a Nationals Level Competition.

The Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Council gathers for its monthly business meeting Tuesday. The gathering, which welcomes public participation, takes place at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall, 1001 Parsippany Blvd. 

Tuesday also features a special meeting for the Parsippany Board of Education, which includes a field trip. The body gathers this week at Parsippany High School, 309 Baldwin Road in executive session at 7 p.m. The public meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.

We've experienced the fun of Games with Friends at the Parsippany Police Athlete League building, and this is something special. Area general education students mix with special education students to play sports and establish camaraderie. And now, tennis is being offered as an activity they can share. Check it out—Games With Friends takes place Wednesdays at 6 p.m. at 33 Baldwin Road. The cost is $35 for the program.

The contentious proposal of the once-rejected 700 Mountain Way is back: The Parsippany Zoning Board of Adjustment meets to take up a revised plan to bring a townhouse community to the southwest portion of the town. Neighbors put up a strong defense against the project during more than three years of initial deliberation, so it's possible there may be fireworks. The meeting takes place Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall, 1001 Parsippany Blvd.

Still want to show your support for the Par Hills cheerleaders? You get another opportunity this week to help  the Par Hills' Competition Cheer team compete at a Nationals Level event. The Cheerleading Parent Association at Parsippany Hills High School hosts a Par Hills Cheerleading Flapjack Fundraiser Sunday from 8-10 a.m. at Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar, 1057 Route 46.
