Week In Review: Christie Sticks with Jersey

A look back at last week's stories

: On Tuesday, Gov. Chris Christie made a final statement regarding a possible 2012 run for the White House: It won't happen. The state's chief executive said he did consider the idea seriously and even received an okay from his wife. In the end, though, Christie told a crowd in Trenton that he wants to finish the job he started in the Garden State. The governor said a presidential bid may be in his future, but then again, he added, he could end up working for NBC.

: The Parsippany Board of Education unanimously approved adding another third-grade section at Troy Hills School at its Thursday meeting. The decision ended a controversy over a third-grade student entering Troy Hills just after  the deadline, which pushed the size of one section up to 26, one student over the maximum class size allowed for district elementary schools. After parents complained, the school board voted to move the deadline to Oct. 1 and to add a new third-grade section at Troy Hills. The board also approved the hiring of a new teacher for the new class.

: A 38-year-old woman is dead after being hit by a car on Route 46 near Baldwin Road Thursday night. Parsippany Police and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office are investigating the accident. According to law enforcement, the woman was crossing Route 46 on foot when she was struck by a 2008 Nissan driven by a 34-year-old Bayonne man. Police say the woman died at the scene. The identities of the victim and the driver have not been released, pending the outcome of the investigation.

: The Morris County NAACP celebrated its 80th anniversary at the Parsippany Hilton Friday night. The organization's annual Freedom Fund Banquet is held each year to mark the occasion and to honor those who have made positive community contributions. Among those receiving awards were three Morris County residents given the Soldier of Valor Award: veterans Tom Clark, Gregory Miller-McIver and Alexander A. Hall Sr. The organization also awarded college scholarships to three Morris County students: Samia Jones (Howard University), Keeshana Marshall (Tuskegee University) and Bria Thomason (Hampton University).
