Par Hills Beats West Essex to Advance to State Finals

They gave West Essex their first loss of the season and now will face Summit at Kean University.

The Parsippany Hills High football team served No. 1 seeded West Essex their first loss of the seasonand won 20-17 in the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 3 semifinal round last Friday.

They move on to face off against undefeated Summit High School at Kean University on Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.

This past Friday, the Vikings were a bit shaky early on but didn’t allow a single point in the second half. The two Parsippany Hills touchdowns came on 13-yard passes from Brandon Katzenberger. The first was pulled in by Richard Madison and the second was a catch made by Tommy Bluj, according to NJ.com.

At the end of the day, Katzenberger had over 300 yards passing, with 159 yards to Evan Smith, who averaged over 17 yards per catch.

Fourth-seeded Parsippany Hills HS crushed South Plainfield 26-0 in its first round match up of the NJSIAA Sectional Tournament and then beat fifth-seeded South Plainfield Nov. 16. Last week, Patch video interviewed senior quarterback Brandon Katzenberger and Senior cornerback/receiver Tommy Bluj duringtheir practice.
