Local Business Hosts Halloween Baby Boot Camp

The free class was on Halloween and promoted a fun way for parents to get in shape and bring their baby too.

Recently, as parents were getting their kids dressed up for Halloween, one local business offered its own creative idea with a healthy spin.

Stephanie Chang, franchise owner and instructor of Baby Boot Camp at Parsippany PAL, hosted a free class on Halloween for kids and parents to come dressed up.

“I run a an exercise class for moms where they can bring their stroller-aged babies/children with them and get a great workout,” said Chang. Some of the activities included “a mommy and me portion with a parachute etc. have a craft, and a party with snacks.”

Chang’s class is every weekday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. and the “babies/children sit in the stroller while us moms exercise. We start with a warmup, then a little stretching (while singing to the kids) then take about a 3-minute jog around the gym,” said Chang. Then there’s more strength training and cardio, all while entertaining the kids with pattie-cake squats, itsy-bitsy spider wall sits, etc.

“Then, we let the kids get out for a few minutes and exercise with us. They pretend to be bears or bunnies, hopping or lunging, run some laps, learn jumping jacks- all sorts of things. Finally, we get out our mats, let the kids play by themselves or sit with us, and do some core work and stretching to finish up,” said Chang.

Chang hopes to make healthy living fun. But it’s much more than just moms exercising.

“We also hold kids' clothing swaps, story times after class, moms nights out, parties, 5k training classes, Karna Fitness Restore the Core classes, family fitness at the park Saturdays, and anything else we think of,” said Chang. “It's a great way to meet like-minded, awesome moms in the area, let your children socialize, get into fabulous shape, and promote life-long healthy habits for your whole family.”
