Jobless Claims and Home Sales

Rates Holding Steady:

There was a drop in Jobless Claims this morning, through at 350K it fell short of the consensis of 340K. Economists report that this is due to ongoing collection issues involving technical problems in California which skew national data. The dow is up 50 points this morning, and the August Trade Deficit came in as expected.

In August before California's reporting issues, unemployment applications had dropped to pre-recessuion levels.

No word on the September New Home Sales Data.
The government shutdown has delayed the release of this report, which was expected today.
