BAPS Charities Hosts Health FAIR in PARSIPPANY

One in every three Americans is obese. This staggering statistic is a threat to the health and wellness of communities across the nation. Obesity-related conditions include heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer. Together, these conditions are some of the leading causes of preventable death – Early detection is key to leading a long, healthy life.  This year, in an effort to raise awareness and screen for potentially life changing conditions, BAPS Charities hosted over 40 health fairs in cities across North America. The health fairs bring together community members and healthcare professionals to provide individualized care and raise awareness on prevailing health and wellness issues. BAPS Charities hosted its 7th annual health fair in Parsippany, NJ. The Health Fair saw volunteer participation from 32  medical professionals, including pharmacists, dentists, nurses, physicians, and specialists in the fields of Internal Medicine/Family practice, Nephrology, ENT, OB-GYN,  , Podiatry, Physical Therapy , Chiropractor. These professionals provided individual consultations to the over 320 patients who attended and benefited from this event. Physicians and healthcare professionals alike reviewed participant’s blood panels and previous medical history to provide personalized guidance. Additionally, seminars were provided by industry professionals during the fair on heart health and diabetes – two conditions that significantly affect the South Asian community. This year’s health fair in Parsippany provided medical services to a diverse age group. From young children to the elderly, health care professionals provided customized seminars and consultations to address the needs of all participants. Dipakbhai Patel has been consistently attending the BAPS Charities Health fair for the past 7 years. Dipakbhai commented, “Every year, I come here to get quality medical services. I even brought my father today to see a Physiotherapist — all under a single roof! I am so happy with the one-on-one consultations I had today.” Dr. Manoj Trivedi volunteered time to provide blood reports screening at the health fair. Dr. Trivedi is committed to raising awareness about diabetes in addition to providing treatment for hypertension. “This event gave me the opportunity to give back and do what I enjoy the most – provide care for others to help them lead healthier lives! This is a great event for both doctors and participants.”Doctors that volunteered their time at the Health Fair came from a diverse set of local hospitals and private practices. “I was very much impressed with the turnout and the professionalism of all of the volunteers in putting together such a great community event,” said Dr. Pendse. “I will definitely be back next year!”BAPS Charities hosts a variety of health initiatives throughout the year, including awareness lectures and seminars on a variety of health-related issues. Extending that sentiment throughout the year, BAPS Charities hosts medical fairs, walkathons, education and career development seminars, disaster relief operations, blood drives and much more.
