Nothing to Fear but Fear Itself. Waterview Threat Over

DePierro Must Go!

DePierro's reasoning for supporting RDR during the Waterview Threat was quite pathetic it was as if he was punishing us for being persistent against developers and now finally its too late and people, you've gone far enough. This guy is a terrible civic leader he despises real people and ups the developers, which are large corporations of unknown credentials and money sources. He got to go. He claims no water problems exist and harps on Parsipanny being one of the top places to live as if its permanent and unchanging .He belittles the public, his remark,' we've heard the same stories about the deer and bear and the trees' was quite insulting. He has no reverence for other life forms; including people whom find corporate power disenfranchising. He believes he knows all there is to know, but he knows very little of things he should as a Councilman in a place like Parsipanny. To him property rights are above community values and his reasonings add up to dollars only. He glories in saying YES to power, even if its from outside the community. He has no wholesome discretion, fantasies himself a dictator and should not be reelected to office. From dePierro's online profile;Mike has been dedicated to improving the quality of life in New Jersey by getting involved. He has been a member of the Township Planning Board, Open space Committee, and the Knoll CC Advisory Committee and many others. He served as President of the Morris County League of Municipalities (1990-91) and as a Director (1985-97). Serving on these Committees and Boards alone does not make one dedicated to improving life, actions speak louder than words. If he was part of the Open Space Committee why is the Township not part of the NJ Highlands Conformance Plan, and why could he not have tried to steer this Waterview issue in that direction. Not realizing nor being interesting in the extreme value and beauty of this Waterview Landscape, its important place in the Troy Brook Wetlands and Aquifer shows he is not qualified to properly function on an Open Space Committee. It would seem his Open Space concepts do not extend beyond, golf courses and ball fields. His other claims of recognition in education, shows his ideas on that are also limited, business not science, history, culture. His election to the  “Elected Officials Hall of Fame” would seem to be some mutual admiration society thanking itself. If Mr dePierro cannot see that Parsipanny needs to move to a post development phase, that enough not more would be in keeping with community and quality of life here, then he can no longer serve the community, only himself and developers like RDR, which he did the whole time against his own community. When he spoke of being  afraid of what was next, if we did not allow RDR and supported RDR's disaster plan at Waterview he was disingenuous and contemptuous to the people. The threat he mentioned "low Income Housing" is weak and Parsipanny has more than met their obligations. Why would more housing of this type be centered; sprawled into our area? Does not the State of NJ have a Office of Smart Development? This poor reasoning and assumption all favored RDR and showed weakness in the Council-Members who voted yes in favor of the rezoning. These gentlemen that voted yes for RDR, I'm sure are of the less than 5% whom only because of their vested interest not the science still believe climate change is not caused by Human-impacts.
From a book of which title eludes me now; something like The End of the World; "Our special gift is reason. Our reason allows us to conceive of our species as a species, and to recognize the danger that our growth poses to it, and to feel something for the other species we threaten. The day has come when we choose between the wholeness and man in it or man apart, between the old clarity or new darkness.
To those whom voted yes, the world is not made of money, but consists of organic life, consuming this life for money in the name of economy is environmental genocide and will leave our future in jeopardy Mr. dePierro's warning about what is next, is a fear tactic, and based on the downfall of man according to the superiority of its masters of capital. October 1, we have gained a little victory over these forces of darkness, but corporate sprawl and a society of privatization and vested interest threaten us each day. The claim that America has some exceptional claim to how we govern is nothing less than American Fascism, big money and government which is no government. Look around, our once beautiful country is being destroyed by corporate greed and development which has no unique character or virtues to offer.
