VITA, RSVP NEEDS PARSIPPANY AREA VOLUNTEER TAX PREPARERS

Federal Program Helps Locally

Each year, millions of low- and moderate-income taxpayers become eligible to receive assistance having their taxes prepared through the VITA program designed especially for senior citizens, the disabled & income eligible members of the community. VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) uses IRS certified volunteers to prepare and file their tax returns – Parsippany area residents who are eligible may use this program -  For Free.

RSVP & Volunteer Resource Center (sponsored by NORWESCAP) coordinates the VITA programs in Parsippany and throughout the counties of Morris, Sussex, and Warren. They are asking volunteers to step forward to help prepare these tax returns. Training is provided.

As a coordinator for VITA, RSVP is hoping to recruit volunteers who have interest or experience in tax preparation, who can use a computer and who enjoy working with the above populations. Training, both in-person and online, enables the volunteers to learn the federal and state tax laws and prepares them for the required certification by the IRS.

Volunteers will be assigned to a site near home or work and can prepare taxes during the daytime, evenings or weekends. Sites are open from January to April. IRS training is available on-line beginning soon and we also offer an in-person information session early in December - so interested volunteers should start registration now.
