Community Corner

Waterview Lament; NJHighlands Compliance Our Salvation.

We must ask ourselves as a community, what have we learned from waterview and the RD reality developer plan to destroy our Towns Master Plan? This was a "positive" victory only if we actually learned anything at all. Not who won; but who learned, not who profited, but who gained. After the vote against the Rezone Ordinance and talking about it, a lament or sorrow was evident or reflected in that, what was once and now is lost. The open spaces of Parsipanny past, the Farms, Lake Hiawatha; the actual lake itself how beautiful it all was in many of our lifetimes. The vastness of nature's prominent spaces then, compared to now.
Is the Township, are we ready now to say. Enough is Enough, no more RD development threats that make no sense and are based on lies, like Tax relief, good jobs, or abstract nonsense like the expansion of retail space.    The time of the speculators is over in land development here.
We do have Plans waiting to implement for our already developed areas brown spaces; redevelopment is possible and should be the only allowable economic stimulus.
If Parsippany was to adhere to NJHighlands Compliance merging this already beneficial Master Plan with our own master plan the benefits far out-weigh  the continued vulnerability this town faces by corporate developers.
The NJ Highlands Conformance would" bright to light" all proposed new developments exactly as they are. We as a community could not be duped by private sources or bogus environmental impact assessment reports. Like RD's EcoLScience report that actually mislead; distorted facts already known about the landscape. The NJ Highlands Coalition has no hidden agenda, only the future sustainability of basic resources that sustain life itself. Water, Air, Earth. Do we have pride in Parsippany or false pride in ourselves?
There is not much left compared to what was even in my short 63 years what can be lost, what wrong can occur? It's time for Parsippany to Comply to NJ Highlands; even developers can benefit by simply being part of the Smart Growth or redevelopment of already developed places.
Evolution, not progress, gain not profit. Close our borders to outside corporate sprawl. Defend, be Part and parcel of your Homeland New Jersey. We all go forward and denounce stupidity; comply...
Don't just live here; Live Here! Your backyard is greater than you think.
