Red Hawks have a sensational day at State Sectionals

The Red Hawk Men went into Sectionals ranked 11th led by Senior Captain Bhargav Tarpara.  Bhargav gave a gutsy performance and finished 34th overall in a time of 18:18:27.  At the end of his race, the team leader was overcome with emotions as it hit him that his was his last cross country race.  Great scene with fellow teammates coming over to console him.  Overall the boys finished 7th overall and that’s should allow the Red Hawks to be very proud of their performance with such a young inexperience team.

The Lady Red Hawks started the day with a 5th place ranking with high hopes of qualifying for State Group 2 Championship.  Led by senior Jennifer Mlynar who finished 5th in the race (20:36.98), the Lady Red Hawks were able to advance to Groups with a 4th overall finish.  When the results were announced the girls broke out in screams and hugged each other in jubilation in later ran to tell the coaches who were prepping for that start of the boys race. The Lady Red Hawks last advanced to the State Group Championship in 2006.

The day ended for the Red Hawks with the coaches treating the team to pizza at Anthony Francos.  Pizza, smiles and laughter were in full effect!
