Red Hawks has Final Tune-Up


Red Hawks were back in action at the Annual Valentine Invitational as they prepare for a final tune-up for the upcoming State Relays.

Fresh off impressive wins at the Freshmen and Sophomore Championship, Ally Schlosser continues to enjoy a breakout season with a winning time of 3:09.88 in the 1000m run.  In the same heat, new comer Haley Pignatelli finished 3rd in 3:19.34 and Kati Hsu just missing out on top 6 finish with a time of 3:28.85.  Earlier in the meet Ally Schlosser and Haley Pignatelli finished 4th and 5th respectively in the 1600m run.  

 

In the 600m run, Jen Mlynar finished in 1:45.46 to earn a 6th place from the second heat.  Taking a break from the 55m dash, Bria Saunders focused on the 400m dash and finished 2nd with a time of 1:01.24. Other Lady Redhawks just missing out on top 6 finish were Sophomores Kati Hsu-1:05.13,  Meghan Wisniewski – 1:05.17 and Junior Amanda Angulo - 1:06.21.

Finishing up on the track for the Lady Red Hawks, the 4x400m relay of Jen Mlynar, Meghan Wisniewski, Bria Saunders and Amanda Angulo ran a season best of 4:16.78…this is the 3rd straight meet in which the 4x400 relay has lowered its time.

Off the track, Junior Emily Fales continues to improve in the shot put with a throw of 29-01.00 just inches off a  top 6 finish.  In the high jump, Jen Mlynar equal her best height of 4-08.00 and Kelly Higinbotham cleared the height of 4-03.00 finishing 7th and 15th respectively.

 

 

In the 55m Hurdles Malik Francis recorded a personal best of 8.16 and finished in 2nd place.  Speaking with Coach Smith,  a former All-American Hurdler at ESU, he was  pleased with the hurdlers overall performances, “Today was a good hurdle day for us…we have more work to do…but today was good day” said Coach Smith.   In the short sprints, Freshman Kwaku Agyemang finished 3rd in the 55m JV race with a time of 7.34 while  Juniors Josh Crawford finished 5th in 38.79 and Malik Francis finished 9th in 39.41 in the 300m dash.

 

Coming off an impressive 600m performance, Senior Peter Hernandez had his eye on the school record but fell short of it and with a 2nd place finish in 1:27.39. 

 

In the 1000m JV run, Junior Daniel Bamert finished in 3:17.77 slightly missing out on a top 6 finish.  The 4x400m relay of Malik Francis, Josh Crawford, Aaron Wood and Peter Hernandez in finished 2nd place with a time of 3:41.19.

 

The Valentine Invitational is the official end of the regular season as the Championship portion of the season is HERE!!
