Preview:

Since the 4x100 is run on the same day as the 4x400, the Girls always line up a team to run. The team looks to get on the track and have some fun with hopes of good exchanges for the Philly crowd.  This race will serves as warm up for Bria as team up with 1st timers in Salena, Amanda, Meghan.

For the last 3 years the Girls 4x400 has been runners-ups.  This year the team goes in a season best time slower than last year time but with a favorable heat assignment, the Girls will be in contention for 1st place finish.  Girls will be led by all-state sprinter Bria who ran a 56.5 lead off last year and must use her quick start to get out ahead of the pack and put her team in a good lead.  Previous Penn’s experience of Jen and Gabby should bode well as nerves are insanely high at Penn.  And fresh off her Spain vacation, sophomore Ally will be running in her 1st Penn Relays and will anchor the relay.  The team hopes to put Ally in front to bring home that 1st Place Penn Relay Plaque.

Saturday

Boys 4x400 Event 419 @ 9:46am

Peter Hernandez (Sr), Christian Hulse-Carr (Jr), Malik Francis (Jr),  Josh Crawford (Jr)

Preview:

Coach Smith has been retooling the 4x4 lineup since the start of the season due to injuries and inconsistent 400m splits. And without the services of their best quarter mile in Lionel Chambers, Coach has decided to go with a familiar lineup from winter track.  With holdovers from last year Penn’s lineup, Malik and Josh will provide the much needed experience while first timers in Peter and Christian hope to get the team out in front and away from the log jam that often plague runners at Franklin Field. The team is expected to be in medal contentions and with an elbow here or there…maybe an 1st Place Penn Relay Plaque. J

For each 4x400 Relay heats, 1st place is awarded a plaque and medals,  2nd place and 3rd place are awarded medals.  No awards for top finishers of 4x100 relay heats.  For complete information on The Penn Relay Carnival is @ http://thepennrelays.com/
