2 Testify Against Parsippany Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting Student
Ex-boyfriend, close female friend say then-16-year-old told them about inappropriate relationship with music teacher, report says.
Two witnesses with a close relationship to a teen victim of alleged sexual assault testified against a Parsippany man who was a teaching at a Paterson school when the supposed crimes occurred in 2010.
According to nj.com, the victim’s ex-boyfriend and close female friend testified against Scott Van Hoven. The John F. Kennedy High School music teacher, then 44, allegedly had sex with a 16-year-old student at his Parsippany apartment, then again in his office at the John F. Kennedy High School a month later.
Van Hoven was indicted on five counts of sexual assault and has had his teaching license suspended. He has been free on $125,000 bail since July 2010.
