2 Injured in Crash at Route 46, Cherry Hill Road

Police say the incident is under investigation.

Two people were hurt in a two-car accident Monday night on Route 46 near Cherry Hill Road.

Two women were injured in the crash, one from each car, and were transported to area hospitals, according to a police officer at the scene. The injuries were not life-threatening, police said. 

The accident, which occurred at about 8:30 p.m., closed the right lane of Route 46 as crews removed the wrecked vehicles and cleaned the roadway. The lane was reopened to traffic shortly after 9 p.m.

District 5 Chief Ken Lambert said his crew, which specializes in dealing with hazardous materials, was called in because of reports of spilled fluids.

"There was gasoline and oil and such, but they were unrecoverable," he said. "The fluids were just sucked into the storm drains."

 was also present, as was Parsippany Rescue and Recovery, which assisted in removing the victims from the cars.
