20 Parsippany Residents Become Citizen Cops

10-week course teaches students ins and outs of law enforcement.

Mayor James Barberio and Police Chief Paul Philipps announced the graduation of the 11th Citizen’s Police Academy this month.

Twenty Parsippany residents were honored on May 8 in a ceremony capping off their 10-week course that consisted of once-a-week training sessions.

Residents were educated in subjects like police procedures, training, crime prevention techniques, neighborhood watch, motor vehicle stops, traffic enforcement, school resource officers, firearms, use of force scenarios and other law enforcement subjects that were taught by Parsippany Police specialists.
