UPDATE: Electricity's Back for Those Who Lost Power, Says JCP&L

Utility says more than 300 of its Parsippany customers were affected by blackout.

Jersey Central Power and Light's online outage center reports as of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday that all but about five of 366 of its customers who lost electricity are back in the light.

An outgage was reported in the area of South Beverwyck Road at around 3:30 p.m., according to Parsippany Police.

JCP&L quickly isolated the problem affecting the residents and most restoration occurred within the hour.

With the looming storms, the utility warns residents that power outages that last for 24 hours or longer are possible.

JCP&L urges people to prepare and ensure they have enough supplies including nonperishable food items, drinking water, a battery-powered radio, flashlights, batteries, blankets and other basic staples.

The utility also reminds people to stay away from downed power lines, which can be live even if they appear dead.
