$3M Bail Held for Man Accused of Having Wife Killed in Boonton

Kashif Parvaiz is accused of conspiring with a Massachusetts woman to kill his wife in August 2011.

The bail for a Boonton man accused of conspiring to kill his wife in front of one of their children was maintained at $3 million as new details of the 2011 incident were revealed in court last week.

Judge Robert Gilson backed Morris County Assistant Prosecutor Matthew Troiano’s argument on Friday to maintain Kashif Parvaiz's bail, according to the Daily Record.

Parvaiz is accused of conspiring with Antoinette Stephen, a 29-year-old Massachusetts woman he was having an alleged affair with who pleaded guilty last July to the fatal shooting of Nazish Noorani, 27, in August 2011.

A defense attorney argued last week that Stephen told detectives Parvaiz claimed an ex-girlfriend was blackmailing him, he claimed he "was being shaken down by drug dealers" and his wife was preventing their sons from receiving life-saving medical treatment as reasons why his client felt he needed his wife killed, the Daily Record reported.

Noorani was killed when she was walking with Parvaiz and their 3-year-old son on Cedar Street in Boonton. Parvaiz, who was shot four times in the incident, had originally told authorities he and his wife were victims of a hate crime. He claimed they were approached by several men who yelled racial slurs before shooting them while they pushed their son in a stroller.

However, phone records revealed Parvaiz allegedly plotted the attack with Stephen, authorities said.
