County and local HAZMAT teams were on the scene of a large fuel spill on Route 287 Thursday evening, just past the ramp of Route 80, in Parsippany, where a state police dispatcher from the Totowa station said about 40 gallons of diesel fuel leaked on to the roadway around 5 p.m. It was unknown whether traffic would be shut down because of the spill.
The dispatcher said a diesel truck carrying about 90 gallons of diesel fuel was leaking fuel on to the roadway when it pulled over on Route 287, but that no crash occurred and no injuries were reported. State police also said local fire departments were on the scene, as well as a tow truck.
