Alleged Drunk Driver Avoids Deer, Hits Embankment

Passaic County man charged with DUI in Mount Tabor incident.

A Passaic County man was drunk early Saturday morning when he drove off the road and hit an embankment after avoiding a deer in the area of Tabor Road and Circle Drive, Parsippany Police said.

David Reilly, 30, of Haskell, was charged with DUI in the single-vehicle crash in Mount Tabor.

Reilly was driving in the area of Tabor Road and Circle Drive when a deer apparently jumped in front of his vehicle shortly before 1:30 a.m., according to Officer Earl Kinsey, a spokesman for the Parsippany Police Department.

Reilly told police by avoiding the animal, his vehicle left the roadway and crashed his into an embankment, Kinsey said.

Reilly was released pending a court appearance.
