Alleged Drunk Driver Honks Horn, Attracts Cops
The following arrest information was supplied by the Parsippany Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
report a Pine Brook man was arrested Saturday for allegedly driving while intoxicated. John A. Olstrom, 31, might have eluded arrest if he had kept his hands off of his car horn.
Police said Officer Michael Sprung was patrolling Sylvan Way at about 3:18 a.m. when he reportedly heard a horn blaring from a 2000 Honda traveling west on Sylvan at a high rate of speed.
Sprung pulled the car over and subsequently arrested Olstrom for DWI. The man later received summonses for DWI and for careless driving.

In another incident, officials say a 45-year-old Parsippany man landed a DWI charge after allegedly hitting a curb with his van and leaving the scene.
At about 10:34 p.m. Sunday, police received a report that a vehicle had left an accident near the area of Smith and Jefferson roads. Officers responded to the call and in time found a disabled 1998 Nissan van standing in front of 311 Smith Road.

The driver, Salil Patel, was placed under arrest for DWI. Police also issued him summonses for DWI, careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident.
Patel was released to the custody of a family member.
