Masked Man Robs Parsippany Bank at Gunpoint, Prosecutor Says

Though it is the fifth bank robbery in the county since July, the description does not match others.

Another bank robbery has taken place in Morris County and Parsippany, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.

A man described as black, between 5-foot-10 and 6-feet tall and approximately 220 pounds allegedly brandished a handgun during the incident at Provident Bank on Smith Road at 9:25 a.m., the prosecutor's office said. This is the fifth bank robbery in Morris County since July, although the description reported does not mach the other four. Before Monday's robbery, the latest .

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office said the Thursday robbery may be connected to the other three bank robberies, including  on Aug. 10, another in and , both in July. Those robberies all included a man wearing a hat, authorities said.

The description given on Thursday by the Morris County Prosecutor's Office was of a white male in his 20s or 30s between 6-foot and 6-foot-2 tall. He was also described as wearing a straw cowboy hat, olive green blazer, white dress shirt, dark-colored pants and black Nike shoes. Authorities also said he was wearing eyeglasses and may have been operating a black two-door vehicle.

The office's Major Crimes Unit, the Parsippany Police Department, Morris County Sheriff's Office and the FBI reported to the scene to investigate. The bank is located at 401 Smith Road.

When they finally catch this guy, he won't see the light of day outside of prison walls for the rest of his life....

Based upon the photos, the physical build and stature (bigger/stocky) of this guy is not the same as the other bank robberies.

I wonder if this is connected with the aborted armed robbery in Lake Hiawatha.

When was that, Pete?
Hookerman August 28, 2012 at 01:54 PM
I wonder if all the recent bank robberies where the suspect is not caught prompts others to do it.
parhome August 28, 2012 at 01:54 PM
Did the suspect walk away? or leave in a car? I don't recall reading about that.

That info wasn't stated parhome. I'm wondering if they have parking lot footage and whether he came in via car or bus. Maybe he was even staying at a neighboring hotel. The robberies in the area are getting way out of hand. Sad.

Of course he will. What world do you live in " Ice Cream Man " ???? He will do 5 - 8, than be back out in the general population. Times are tough - thanks to our Federal Government, and people are doing things UNIMAGINABLE to survive. Thing is - he has not been caught yet. Andthe Parsippany job was done by completely different actors - everyone getting in on the mix !!!
