Armed Man Sought in 2 Morris County Hotel Robberies

Parsippany Marriott, Rockaway Hotel both robbed Friday morning in the same hour, Prosecutor's Office reports.

Local and county authorities are searching for a black man who allegedly robbed two Morris County businesses at gunpoint early Friday morning, Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp announced.

Parsippany police responded to the Marriott Fairfield Suites on Rt. 46 around 12:47 a.m. Friday morning for a report of an armed robbery, Knapp said.

Just 37 minutes later, Rockaway Township police responded to the Rockaway Hotel on Green Pond Road in Rockaway for a report of an armed robbery, Knapp said. In that instance, the man allegedly went behind the front desk and stole money from the register, Knapp said. During that robbery the suspect was armed with a handgun, Knapp said.

Police are looking for a black man who was wearing a black knit hat at the time of the robberies as well as a dark grey jacket and grey pants.

The investigation is ongoing and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Department, Rockaway Township Police Department and Morris County Sheriff’s Office are all assisting.
