Car Fire Extinguished on Smith Road

No injuries reported, cause remains under investigation.

The Parsippany-Troy Hills Volunter Fire Association extinguished a car fire just before 1 p.m. Tuesday on Smith Road, just south of the Littleton spur, Parsippany Police said.

Officer Earl Kinsey said a man driving a 1999 black Toyota Camry reported exiting Interstate 80 onto Smith Road and hearing a loud noise before seeing smoke and flames.

When Police Officer Michael Ruggier, Parsippany Volunteer Ambulance and District 6 firefighters arrived at the scene, they found the Camry's passenger compartment filled with smoke and saw fire coming from the vehicle engine, Kinsey said.
