Cops: Man Threatened, Beat Woman in Street

An 18-year-old Clifton man allegedly threatened and beat a Parsippany woman at a Lake Parsippany intersection on Saturday, Parsippany Police said.

Paris Gadgev was charged with aggravated assault and making terroristic threats after he allegedly punched a woman's vehicle and then pushed her to the ground and beat her with his fists at the intersection of Lake Shore Drive and Atlantic Avenue Saturday morning shortly before 3:30 a.m., according to a statement released Wednesday by the .

Officer Robert Smolen arrived at the scene of a reported disturbance involving people yelling and screaming, police said. Upon his arrival, Smolen interviewed a woman police described as having "significant visible facial trauma."

According to police, the woman said she and a friend were driving near Hoffman Beach when they saw several vehicles parked on Lake Shore Drive and three people arguing in the middle of the street. The woman reportedly slowed her vehicle, and as she did so, someone allegedly began punching the hood of her vehicle, police said.

Police said the woman then stopped her vehicle and got out when she allegedly was threatened by a man in the roadway. He pushed her to the ground and began striking her in the head with a closed fist before eventually running away, police said.

The Parsippany Volunteer Ambulance Squad responded and treated the victim at the scene, officials said. 

Gadgev was found shortly thereafter, police said. Officers Ross Cooper and Jermaine Pledger saw him walking in the vicinity of the incident, police said.

Gadgev was transported to police headquarters for processing and turned over to the Morris County Jail where he's being held in lieu of $75,000 bail with no 10 percent option.
