Cocaine Distribution Conviction Handed Down for Par-Troy Man

Javin Ward faces possible prison time and fines after selling drugs to undercover detective, state attorney said.

A Parsippany-Troy Hills man was found guilty Thursday of conspiring to sell cocaine after he sold drugs to an undercover detective during a 2011 investigation, according to state Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa.

Javin Ward, 35, was convicted by a Morris County jury on charges of second-degree conspiracy to distribute cocaine; distribution of cocaine; possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and third-degree possession of cocaine.

As a result of his conviction, Ward faces a possible five to 10 years in state prison and fine of up to $150,000 on the second-degree charges, plus an additional three-to-five-year prison sentence and fine of up to $35,000 on the third-degree charge.

Chiesa said detectives had learned Ward was selling large amounts of cocaine from his Alba Place home in Parsippany about two years ago. Between March 14, 2011 and May 21, 2011, Ward had worked with another man, acting as a supplier, to distribute cocaine, according to a release from Chiesa's office.

An undercover detective from the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice Gangs and Organized Crime made seven purchases from Ward amounting to more than three ounces of cocaine, the release said. Ward was arrested and charged on June 1, 2011.
