Traffic stop on Route 46 leads to two arrests.

A machete and cocaine were found during a motor vehicle stop on Route 46 last Thursday, Parsippany Police said.

Alexis Diaz, 30, of Jersey City, was charged with possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, weapons possession and possession of a weapon while intending to distribute cocaine, according to a police department statement.

Diaz's passenger, Brittney Fishinger, 22, of Matawan, was arrested on outstanding warrants and hindering arrest, the statement said.

Patrolman Earl Kinsey, a spokesman for the police department, said the incident began with a motor vehicle stop when Officer Matthew LaManna noticed a vehicle drifting in travel lanes on Route 46 just east of South Edwards Road.

Fishinger was placed under arrest after she identified herself with another name to avoid being arrested for two outstanding arrest warrants, Kinsey said. The first warrant was issued by the East Brunswick Municipal Court in the amount of $259 and the second, for $428, was issued from the Old Bridge Township Municipal Court.

Kinsey said police obtained a warrant to search the vehicle's content and found 8 grams of cocaine and a machete.

He also was issued a summons for his vehicle's tinted windows, Kinsey said.

According to police, Diaz is being held in the Morris County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail, and Fishinger was released pending a court appearance.
