Community Partnership Program Returns July 9

Police event will allow residents to get to know their emergency services responders.

As promised, the Parsippany Police Department is back with its second . The event, also sponsored by the office of Mayor James Barberio, takes place Monday, July 9, from 6-9 p.m. at the , 199 Smith Road.

The goal of the program is to give township residents a closer look at the departments that serve them. According to Chief Anthony DeZenzo, the July event will feature Parsippany's emergency responders.

"If you live here, work here, worship here or own a business in Parsippany, you are encouraged to attend and meet with [us] to hear about who we are, what we do, what we can do for you, and how you can partner with us so we can continue to improve our emergency services," the chief said via statement. "The Emergency Services Team offers a range of services, and we look forward to meeting the community we serve to help inform you about the services available to all."

Attendees will learn about the town's emergency services providers, ranging from the PPD and Rescue and Recovery to the and all six of Parsippany's fire companies. They will also get tips on using tools such as Facebook and Twitter updates in the event calamity strikes.

The Community Partnership Program debuted last February, offering residents an introduction to the police department.

The program was conceived late last year by Chief DeZenzo and approved by Mayor Barberio as a potential replacement for the old Citizens' Police Academy.

The academy was popular with the citizens who experienced it, and the .

The chief has been passionate about the potential reach of the new effort.

"We feel that this new Partnership Program takes the best elements from the academy and will make them available to a lot more people," DeZenzo said.
