Cop: Man Caught Using Stolen Credit Cards

A Newark man was caught using stolen credit cards he allegedly took from a vehicle parked outside a Route 46 restaurant on Christmas Eve, Parsippany Police said.

Frank DeRosa, 44, was charged with burglary, theft, theft by deception and endangering the welfare of a child for having her present during a crime.

According to a statement released Wednesday by the , customers came out of the and found the vehicle's front passenger's window smashed Christmas Eve at about 1 p.m.

Officer Peter Molisso discovered the credit cards were used to purchase items at stores in Arlington Plaza, police said. Det. Joseph Puso investigated surveillance video that revealed a light-colored Mitsubishi was seen in the area of the crime. The video also showed a young girl was with the man during the purchases, police said.

The vehicle was registered to DeRosa, who was arrested at his home in Newark on Feb. 1. DeRosa is being held at the Essex County Jail and has also been charged with burglary in a similar incident in West Caldwell, police said.
