Cops: Neighbor Tips Off Police to Home Burglary

A Parsippany man was arrested after a neighbor tipped off police to a burglary in progress to an unoccupied home on Lake Court Friday night.

Casey Cullinan, 26, was charged with burglary after he was found hiding in an attic when officers searched the home Friday night shortly after 6:30 p.m., according to a statement released Wednesday by the .

Police were alerted to the burglary by a neighbor, who reported seeing a man inside the residence when he knew the owners were not home, police said.

Responding officers established a perimeter around the home and the owner was contacted and confirmed no one had permission to be inside the residence, police said.

The Morris County K-9 Unit assisted with searching the interior of the residence. The search was unsuccessful until officers pulled down a folding staircase that led to the attic, police said.

Officer Marcin Czajka then observed a "human silhouette of a man," later identified as Cullinan, who was hiding behind boxes and insulation, police said.

Cullinan was transported to police headquarters for processing before he was turned over to the Morris County Jail where he's being held in lieu of $100,000 bail with no 10 percent option.
