Cops: Screaming Woman Says Friend Robbed Her

Parsippany resident arrested after allegedly stealing $100 from woman's purse.

A woman struggled with a man whom she considered a friend when he tried to rob her of $100 Tuesday night, said.

Larry Navarette, 26, of Parsippany, was charged with robbery after officers responded to a report of a woman screaming Tuesday night in the area of Halsey Road and Reaville Drive in Lake Parsippany shortly before 10 p.m., police said.

The woman told Officer Jason Ferreira that struggled with her friend when she found him going through her purse, police said. The woman told the officer Navarette took $100 from her and fled the area, police said.

Officer Michael Sprung located Navarette and placed him under arrest without incident a short time later on Farmingdale Road, police said.

The stolen $100 was recovered from Navarette's possession, police said. Navarette was transported to police headquarters for processing before being turned over to the Morris County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
